Opportunity: Operations Support Consultant, Permission Slip

Permission Slip is a free app which allows users to exercise their data privacy rights by requesting that companies delete or stop selling their data. We have submitted millions of requests on behalf of users to date. To ensure as many of these requests get fulfilled as possible, we are seeking an operations support consultant to help us follow up with unresponsive companies and improve processes on both ends. The operations support consultant will report to Permission Slip’s operations manager. This work has meaningful implications for protecting consumer privacy.

This is a three-month consulting opportunity with potential for extension. We expect the candidate to contribute 10 hours per week with an expected rate of $40-70/hour determined based on experience. This is a remote opportunity, with the option for hybrid work for candidates located near Consumer Reports offices in New York or Washington, D.C.

You’re responsibilities are to: 

  • Help investigate requests which are beyond the legal compliance limit to understand why they have not been fulfilled. 
  • Help keep our request submission methods up to date to ensure consumer requests are being correctly sent along to companies.
  • Help draft emails to companies and consumers at the direction of our Operations Manager.

You’ll be a fit for this role if:

  • You pay attention to detail and produce thorough documentation. 
  • You are proficient with Google Suite applications and able to pick up new technologies quickly.
  • You are curious about privacy, data rights, consumer protection, or public interest technology.

Bonus Points If: 

  • You’re passionate about consumer privacy, data rights, or public interest technology.
  • You have experience with CRMs, databases, and task management software (e.g. Zendesk, Monday.com). 
  • You have previous, relevant operations and/or industry relations experience.
