Problem

In the midst of the ever-increasing velocity of change in the blockchain world, platforms coming and going, how can we ensure that consumers’ hard-earned money if spent on cryptocurrency is secure?

Our Approach

Led by Innovation Lab Fellow, Ruby Thelot, the Cryptocurrency Exchange study was an exploration of the guiding security, governance and ownership principles that might be used to examine and evaluate the most popular cryptocurrency platforms in the US, and a legal analysis of the exchanges in order to determine the jurisdiction in which they operated, the legislation they were subject to as well the nature of their business.

The result, a proposed framework to comparatively evaluate the exchanges. This Framework was presented to and received positively by subject matter experts from the crypto community and will contribute to a forthcoming cryptocurrency exchange evaluation.
