In a class action suit, Flo Health Inc. and several tech companies have been accused of collecting data on users’ menstrual health cycles and using it for advertising purposes. While both Flo and Google chose to settle the suit, Meta was recently found in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act by a California jury for their quiet collection of Flo users’ menstrual health data. Although Meta continues to deny the claims, it’s entirely possible that sensitive user health data has made its way into the hands of behavioral advertisers.
Reproductive healthcare data is some of the most sensitive data that exists, revealing intimate details about an individual’s health and lifestyle. Allowing tech giants to target ads based on it is a particularly upsetting violation of user trust. It’s as compelling a reason as any to delete your data. Nineteen states currently have enacted comprehensive data privacy laws that create consumer rights to delete data. If you’ve previously had an account with Flo or no longer wish to use the service, we encourage you to send out a data deletion request, whether you reside in one of these nineteen states or not.
How to Delete your Data with Flo

Excerpted from Flo’s Privacy Policy on August 5, 2025
To delete your data from Flo, send an email to support@flo.health requesting that Flo delete your account and all associated data. Be sure to let them know which email address you signed up with. If you still have the app on your phone, you can deactivate or delete your account via settings on the app, but we’d recommend you also send an email as a legal data deletion request is different from account deactivation.
If you’d like to keep using Flo for the time being, we encourage you to email them asking that they stop sharing or selling your data immediately, and specifically mention the recent lawsuit in your request.

You can also download Permission Slip, an app by Consumer Reports. In Permission Slip, you can choose from over a hundred companies — including Flo — and send a data deletion or opt-out request for free.
